Review: Yorkie Splash & Shine

I'm one lucky Yorkie!  The folks at Yorkie Splash & Shine sent me this set of shampoo, conditioner and detangler/finishing spray to try out!  Mom thinks it's great that the shampoo is organic and the conditioner and detangler spray are vegan.

I kinda give Mom a hard time about posing for photos.  I guess you could say I'm a bit camera shy.  So this is the best picture of me at bath time.

I hope you can see how soft my hair looks.  Mom says it feels so silky and she absolutely loves how I smell.  She says I still smell really good 5-7 days after using it.  She actually said I smelled "beautiful" but I told her not to tell everybody that, after all, I am a boy!

Here's another view for ya.

Us dogs don't really care how we smell, but I guess our humans do.  So I'm giving this Yorkie Shampoo set two paws up, cuz Mom really likes it and I like that it's gentle and doesn't make me itch.

If you want to look and smell good for your humans or dog friends, give this stuff a try.  I've gotten a lot of compliments using it!

As far as the detangler/finishing spray...Mom used it on me several times before brushing me out. It helps to soften the hair so you don't damage it.  It really helps with those pesky tangles!  Good stuff!

My First Halloween!

Okay, whose idea was it to dress up for Halloween?  I look ridiculous!

How would you like to get your ears pulled through these holes?  Good grief!  I'm not too crazy about this get-up.  I've been chewing on the harness buckle every chance I get!  I'm not going to stay in this outfit one minute longer than I have to.  I let Mom know I'm not too happy about it.  I told her I'm NOT posing for any more pictures!

Happy Halloween!  Hope you get lots of good treats!

Review: Rachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Dog Food

I watch Mom review food and cooking products for her food blog all the time, so you can imagine how excited I was to review my own stuff!

I received two bags of Rachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain dog food bags and here's the first of two reviews.

When I first got the dog food, Mom cut the top open so I could have a little sniff.

Before ya know it, I had an overwhelming desire to inhale as much food as I could before Mom properly put the food on my plate.

These crunchy nuggets are good!  They're a bit bigger and more round than what I'm used to.  Mom says she likes the size because I have to take the time to chew it better and I don't "woof" it down so fast.  Whatever...I just like the taste!

Can ya tell?

Mom is big on reading the ingredients.  Are you?  She says that the first several ingredients have to be good for me or it's not going to find it's way to her pantry.  Luckily, the ingredients (below) passed her test!

Mom usually does a little research about the food she feeds me.  The following info made my Mom feel comfortable feeding me this food.  Hopefully, it will answer any questions you might have about it.

Why did Rachael Ray develop a grain-free recipe?

Like you, Rachael Ray wants the best for furry family members like her Isaboo. That's why she worked with a team of pet nutrition experts to create Nutrish® Zero Grain™, a pet food made with simple, natural ingredients that doesn't contain any grains, glutens or fillers. U.S. farm-raised turkey is always the number one ingredient, as it's easily digestible and may help to avoid an allergic response to food allergies. Carefully selected ingredients like whole potatoes, peas and tapioca are the easily digestible vegetable carbohydrates in Zero Grain. It's a natural and wholesome grain-free food that may be more allergy-friendly for your dog. Plus, Zero Grain is available where you currently shop for your family's groceries, and proceeds benefit Rachael's Rescue™ — an organization that helps animals in need.

Why would I want to feed a grain-free food for my dog?

Dogs' natural diets are low in grains. And while carbohydrates are an important part of their diet, they shouldn't be the staple of a healthy, balanced dog diet. That's why real meat is the number one ingredient in all Rachael Ray Nutrish® foods for dogs. Some dogs also have grain and gluten allergies that can cause skin irritations or other problems. These dogs can benefit from a natural, grain-free and gluten-free diet like Nutrish® Zero Grain™, which removes the grain and gluten allergens. Nutrish® Zero Grain Turkey & Potato Recipe is a natural food that doesn't contain any grains, glutens, by-products, fillers or artificial ingredients, so it may be a more easily digestible and allergy-friendly option for your dog.

How do I know Rachael Ray Nutrish® Zero Grain™ is safe?

Rachael Ray Nutrish® foods are made by Ainsworth Pet Nutrition®. Like Rachael, we only want the best for our furry family members. That's why our commitment to safety surpasses anything in the marketplace today. In fact, we are the first pet food manufacturing company in the U.S. to receive a Facilities Food Safety audit rating of "Excellent" from the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Level II auditing standard in accordance with the Global Food Safety Initiative.

   Ainsworth Triple Check System:
Because we are so committed to pet food safety, we have instituted The Ainsworth Pet Nutrition Triple Check System™. This system allows us to guarantee the safety of our products from the moment we purchase ingredients to the time we ship our products out the door. The Ainsworth Pet Nutrition Triple Check System is just one of the many fundamental things we do every day to ensure we meet our customers' expectations of quality and safety.
Check One – Our Commitment to Ingredient Safety: Check One begins with our long-term relationships with our local and domestic suppliers. Our family's team of sourcing experts have carefully chosen each and every one of these suppliers because, like us, they take pride in ensuring their ingredients are not only of the highest quality, but also safe for your pet's overall health and well-being.
Check Two – Ensuring Product Accuracy: Check Two works across our entire operational system to ensure accuracy. Our team of experienced and dedicated employees continuously monitors and verifies every step of the production process to ensure precise nutrient and ingredient levels. In addition, our internal laboratory scientists test, analyze and monitor the production process to ensure no harmful toxins or contaminates are introduced from unknown or unanticipated sources. They also verify our Guaranteed Analysis to ensure the same consistency, high quality and nutrition levels exists in each and every bag.
Check Three – Our 48-Hour Hold Before Release: Check Three is the final step we take before allowing any food to leave our facilities. Every product is held in our warehouse for 48 hours until safety testing is complete. This step confirms that there is no salmonella present and that nutritional values are accurate in accordance to regulatory and formula standards.
How do I switch my dog from his regular food to Zero Grain™?

It's easy to switch your pet to Nutrish® Zero Grain™! Slowly mix Zero Grain with his other food over a 5- to 10-day period until your dog is solely eating Nutrish Zero Grain. Once your dog is only eating Nutrish Zero Grain, keep in mind that feeding guidelines on the bag are a guide. Your dog's individual needs will vary based upon his size, his activity level and even his age. And overfeeding is a common source of digestive upset. Be sure to check your dog's weight and adjust feeding levels to maintain a healthy weight. And don't forget to see your vet regularly.

I have eaten 3/4 of one bag so far and I'm giving Rachael Ray's new dog food two thumbs paws up!  I'll share more about this dog food in November.   Have any of you tried the NEW Rachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain dog food yet?

Unique Pet Odor and Stain Eliminator Giveaway

If you have a pet, I'm sure you're use to cleaning the occasional pet mess such as potty accidents or vomit.  I know I deal with them a lot with Parker.

We'll find a stain on Parker's bed blanket at least once a week from him throwing up something.  Could be from something he ate in the grass or a new food that I gave him.  So when I got this stain eliminator, I started pretreating his stained blankets before washing and they come out great.

Yorkies are known to be a challenge when it comes to house breaking them.  Dave and I clean up our share of Parker's accidents.  So this has been coming in pretty handy and I love that it is a natural product.

Check out all the uses for this product!

Concentrate Directions:

-Shake Well-
This product is 100% safe and won't hurt your family or pets, so feel free to mix it in any container. Just make sure you wash it after you're done. Easy, right?

  • Before using always test for color fastness by applying in a hidden area.
  • Do not apply sanitizers or disinfectants on surface 6 hours before or after treatment with Pet Odor & Stain Eliminator.
  • Use this product on any surface that water won't damage.
Stains and Odors
Premix Unique Pet Odor & Stain Eliminator 5 to 10 cups of warm water with 1 cup Pet Odor & Stain Eliminator in large container. Apply enough of the mixed product to saturate the odor or stain area. Let soak into carpet and pad to sub floor then cover with damp white cotton cloth. The area may need to be kept damp for several hours depending on the amount of odor in the area. You may get a heavy ammonia smell if there is a lot of urine. If this happens, repeat the process once or twice every twelve hours until odor is gone. Do not let dry until odor is gone. Do not mix more than you will use in seven days or the bacteria will go dormant and will not work.

Carpet Extractors
Please use Unique Carpet Shampoo for large areas.

Pour Unique Pet Odor & Stain Eliminator full strength directly on stains. Put garments into a pan of very warm water. Soak several hours then wash normally in washing machine.

Premix 1 cup Unique Pet Odor & Stain Eliminator with 5 cups very warm water. Apply enough to soak into the mattress as far down as the urine, blood or organic material soaked. Cover with damp towel and keep damp several hours until odor and stain are gone.

Linoleum Flooring
Premix 1 cup Unique Pet Odor & Stain Eliminator with 8 cups very warm water. Apply liberally to flooring area and agitate with mop or scrubber, allow to sit for 5-10 minutes and then mop up.
First test small, inconspicuous area on rug for color fastness and to make sure water will not damage rug.  Then follow above instructions for Stains and Odors.

Mom's Day With the Dogs

Did you know that Mom is a food blogger?  Her blog is called Make Ahead Meals for Busy Moms.  Sometimes she gets invited to events as a blogger in the New England area.  Well, over the weekend Mom got invited to Fenway Park in Boston and get this...dogs were invited, but she didn't take me!  Of all the nerve, right?!

She said that she didn't know if it would be too much for me, blah, blah, blah.  She said they don't like to park near Fenway, so they park at a train station in Boston and take "The T' the rest of the way and dogs aren't allowed on the train.  She said that I probably would be all over everybody cuz I'm still a young, energetic pup.  (Can I help it if I'm  friendly and want to make new friends?  Besides, most people giggle when I lick them all over their face.)

This is Mom on the left with her two nieces.  You might recognize the girls from Dad's sister's dog blog Miley's Daily Scoop!  These girls are crazy about dogs!  After all, they have a Golden Retriever and a Golden Labrador.  So Mom knew they'd have a great time at this event.

Wanta see all the pictures and cute doggies at Fenway?  Here's a link to her post on her food blog:

Futures at Fenway

Mom said that she'd like to take me next year now that she knows what to expect.  She said that the folks at Fenway took great care of the pets and their parents.  But she'll have to find a good parking spot near Fenway if I'm going to go next summer.

Black and White Sunday | What a Smile!

Mom says this is the best picture of me smiling so far.  The truth is...I was just eating a cookie when she snapped this photo.  Don't tell Ma though.  She's all happy cuz she thinks I know how to pose for the camera now!  :)

Monday Mischief | More Sock Stealing

Last week I showed you how I like to steal Dad's smelly socks.  Well, apparently I do this more than I realized.  Mom caught me at it again!

Black and White Sunday | Limited Time Outdoors

I was going to call this blog post - Getting Some Fresh Air, but the air hasn't been "fresh" in weeks (here in MA).  In fact, Mom only gives me about 15-20 minutes of bird watching/squirrel chasing/grass eating time in the shade when she brings me outside.  It has been over 90 degrees every day!

What state do you live in?  Are you having the same weather as me?

Monday Mischief | Dad's Smelly Socks

Mom says she has always kept Dad's smelly socks at an arm's length.  I personally don't know what all the fuss is about.  I like 'em.  I don't find the odor offensive at all.  Sweat socks, dress socks, it doesn't matter.  What's your take on this matter?

A Trip to the Vet

Did you ever get little bumps like these on ya?

Mom & Dad found about 10 of these on me.  They didn't appear all at once, so Mom thought they could be bug bites seeing I've been enjoying the shady grass lately.

To be on the safe side, Mom got on the horn and made an appointment with the Vet so we could check out the situation.  (Mom gets all worried when she reads things on line about "what it could be."  Oy!)

The Vet's office is only 20 minutes away.  I don't really mind going there.  It gives me a chance to sniff and meet a few dogs!

Here I am pacing back and forth in the examination room, while Mom "takes a picture for the blog."  Sheesh!

I like this Vet lady!  She takes the time to talk to me and gives me lots of good rubs and hugs before she starts poking around!

She even let me plant a big wet one on her face! He He!

So what was the diagnosis?

The Vet wasn't worried about the bumps.  She said they were scabbing over, so they were probably bug bites.  They have been slowly disappearing.  Thank Dog!  Cuz Mom's a big worry wart!

Black & White Sunday | First Time in the Sprinkler

Sheesh!  It sure is hot out!  Dad set up the sprinkler for me.  I kinda liked it!  Take a look!

Hardly Wordless Wednesday

This is my very first summer with Mom and Dad. I'm 9 months old now.

My folks like to keep the front door open a lot in the summer (so they say). Well, for some reason, they thought I might destroy the screen in the front door when I'm looking at the squirrels and such. (Don't ask me why they think I might do it any harm.)

So my Dad (who can fix just about anything) bought a piece of plexi glass and a few brackets and voila, I have this see-through thing on the door.

Mom and Dad say that it's working like a charm!

Do you have any of this see-through stuff on your door?

A Shady Spot | Black and White Sunday

Ahh!  This is the life!  Now that Mom's on vacation, I can enjoy the outdoors when ever my little heart desires!
